CINCINNATI (January 25, 2018) – Results from the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) show 96.67 percent of 2017 graduates from the Mount’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) passed the mandatory licensure examination on their first attempt.

This pass rate surpasses both the national average rate of 87.85 percent and the state of Ohio average rate of 84.96 percent; and positions MSJ nursing graduates at No. 1 on the list of BSN programs in Cincinnati. The 2017 pass rate for the Mount’s Master of Science in Nursing (MSN- MAGELIN) was also in the top range, at 91.53 percent.

“The pass rates of our BSN and MSN students strongly demonstrate that the Mount continues to be a leader in educating nurses,” said Darla Vale, Ph.D., dean of the Mount’s School of Health Sciences. “This is a proud moment for us. These results are a testament to the caliber of students and faculty in our nursing programs, and to our commitment of excellence in education.”

Modern lab facilities, the latest in technology, clinical work at the area’s best hospitals, and interaction with faculty are integral to all the nursing programs at the Mount. In addition to the BSN and MSN-MAGELIN, the Mount also offers a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and an MSN program with specialty tracks in administration, education, and clinical nurse leader. The Mount’s nursing programs are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

“We are also proud and appreciative of the many partnerships we have with hospitals, health organizations, alumni, and Mount supporters in the tri-state,” said Vale. “Together, we’re working hard to deliver high-quality education to the next generation of nurses.”
