Mount St. Joseph University is proud to once again sponsor and support the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon, Sunday, May 6, 2018. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Flying Pig Marathon will welcome more than 39,000 participants from all 50 states and more than 17 countries.
More than 20 Mount community members are expected to run or walk in one of the many Flying Pig activiites. In addition, all 32 Physician Assistant students will volunteer, and a group of 80 current students from the Mount, called “Ambassaboars," will serve as navigation and event liaisons on the buses transporting the 2,400 relay racers.
Also providing support will be 20 students from athletic training and health/wellness, joined by faculty and staff members, who will serve as part of the volunteer first-aid/medical staff in providing emergency care in collaboration with other health care professionals at care stations located at the finish line, as well as in spectator areas.
One student took a creative approach to supporting the Flying Pig Marathon. Junior graphic design student Nick Sjulin designed the Ambassaboar t-shirts which the Mount representatives will sport at the event. “It was a good opportunity to use the design skills I learned at the Mount for a purpose,” says Sjulin, “and to work with another brand as prominent as Cincinnati’s Flying Pig Marathon.”
